The Shay, part of Destination by Hyatt, is thrilled to welcome José Andrés Group (JAG) as the exclusive food and beverage operations manager for the property, effective September 1, 2024. In this role, JAG will manage all aspects of the food and beverage experience at The Shay, including two new restaurants, in-room dining, the lobby bar, meetings and events.

This fall, JAG will debut Zaytinya at the lobby level, which features innovative mezze inspired by the rich regional diversity of Turkey, Greece and Lebanon. Building on Chef José Andrés’ deep knowledge of Mediterranean cooking and years of research and travel, the menu will feature shared small plates of authentic and inventive fare, creative cocktails, and unique Mediterranean wines. Additionally, JAG will soon unveil a new signature restaurant and bar perched atop The Shay, which boasts coveted views and the only rooftop pool in Culver City.

“We are truly looking forward to working with creative and culinary professionals of the José Andrés Group,” said Adam Edelman, General Manager at The Shay. “The level of excellence the group is known for will further distinguish the hotel’s dining and event experiences.”

JAG is behind 40 celebrated dining concepts, including the Michelin-starred minibar by José Andrés in Washington, D.C., and the eclectic Bazaar by José Andrés restaurants, each with its own distinct personality across eight locations. With restaurants spanning Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Orlando, and Washington, D.C., JAG has made a significant impact on the culinary scene.

Expanding their influence beyond the plate, JAG launched José Andrés Media (JAM) in 2021 to explore the culture of food through compelling stories. Today, JAM produces a dynamic range of content, including scripted and unscripted television series, books, podcasts, and digital short- and mid-form content, continuing to shape the narrative of food culture.

“Culver City is a vibrant entertainment hub, where people in film and television come together to tell stories much in the way that we at José Andrés Group see sharing diverse cultures of cuisines through our food – from our media projects to our menus,” adds José Andrés Group Global CEO Sam Bakhshandehpour.

Situated in the heart of Culver City, The Shay enjoys proximity to prominent entertainment studios such as Amazon, Warner Bros., Discovery/HBO, Sony and Apple, making it a hub for connection between the creative community, visitors, and locals. The hotel’s interior design is both inviting and eclectic, with homey comforts and unique touches that complement its unconventional layout. The lobby, reminiscent of a cozy living room, features a dedicated game room and expansive seating areas with a 360-degree-view fireplace, while the rooftop pool area provides ample space for socializing, swimming and soaking up the California sun.

The Shay is centrally located within Los Angeles, just a short drive from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, centered between Santa Monica and Downtown LA, Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood. The 148-room boutique property is the closest upscale branded hotel to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) that is not an airport hotel. As part of Ivy Station, an award-winning mixed-use development, The Shay is at the epicenter of Culver City’s creative core, offering a dynamic blend of art, culture, and hospitality.
